    Hi there,

I made all of the required updates to increase the upload speed of my website. After the updates, and speaking to host provider, they provided us with the following analysis. Please can you kindly advise what we can do on our end to rectify the issue of having 2 PHP files and them taking so much CPU time to load the website. We have determined how to rectify the large image size. We also can’t seem to find the php.ini file to change other parameters. The response from our host is directly below. Please can you assist in how to resolve the issues they have outlined below?

Well, aside from the fact that your site requires 151 requests to fully render, and that at least one of the requests is a seven-megabyte image file (which is pretty big), the biggest time loss is still your ‘time to first byte’ metric, which is around 3.4 seconds, realtime. final page render doesn’t happen until later after a second PHP process is spawned. that also has about a 3 second realtime delay.
The first index.php script request is processed by the host server in 2.7 cpu-seconds or so. It then has to process another PHP request for admin-ajax.php that also takes about 2.7 seconds of CPU time.
This happens every time someone loads your page, and your site design itself is the cause. WordPress without plugins usually loads a page in under .2 seconds of CPU time, and the full page render usually happens in less than a second. Improving the raw speed of the server cannot reduce your load times under 5.4 seconds minimum on that hardware since with all the stops removed and absolutely no competition for resources on the server, it would still take that long for the CPU of the server to handle the PHP processing on our end.
To fix this, you need to identify why two PHP requests each taking 2.7 seconds of CPU time is required for your site to load. Specifically, you need to figure out why you need to use 2.7 seconds of CPU per request, since this is massive. In general, the more data that has to be pulled down, wrangled by the server and sorted for presentation, the longer it will take for the server to do this. Installing a lot of plugins on wordpress tends to cause this kind of problem.

    Thank you!
